26th Annual Gerontology Clinical Update

Location:  Peachtree Banquet Center, Columbia, MO

This gerontology conference is two days of evidence-based and application-oriented educational programming based on a combination of suggestions from past participants, current literature and hot topics suggested by the conference planning committee.  Experienced gerontology nurses from hospitals, LTC settings, rehabilitation, home and community health, as well as gerontology nursing faculty, a licensed nursing home administrator, social worker and a LTC facility surveyor, have determined the topics for this year’s event.  Every effort has been made to translate the latest evidence into practical and useful knowledge for the gerontology practitioner.

Learning to Use Dementia Care Mapping

Dementia Care Mapping (DCM) is a process of evaluating the delivery of person-centered care and, in general, to improve the quality of care delivered to persons with dementia.  DCM goes to the real heart of caring by striving to assess care from the viewpoint of the person with dementia and provides valuable, clear and reliable information for those concerned with quality care.  This four-day course assists participants becoming thoroughly familiar with the method and theory of DCM in order to immediately apply learning in practical ways.  The course is designed for care partners of persons with dementia and those responsible for improving care practice.
