PASRR Instructional Guide Available On-Line

Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) is a federally mandated screening process for individuals with serious mental illness and/or mentally retarded/developmental disability related diagnosis, who apply or reside in Medicaid certified beds in a nursing home regardless of the source of payment.  The screening assures appropriate placement of persons known or suspected of having a mental impairment(s) and ensures the individual needs of mentally impaired persons can be and are being met in the appropriate placement environment.

To learn more about the PASRR process, please visit the Central Office Medical Review Unit (COMRU) website at: http://health.mo.gov/seniors/nursinghomes/pasrr.php

The website offers an Instructional Guide for the PASRR process along with DA-124 forms and instructions.  The website also provides access to change in status explanation sheets and special admission request forms for clients with MI/MR/DD placed in Medicaid beds under the special admission category.

DA-124 forms are required for Medicaid vendor reimbursement.  Please remember to send the DA-124A/B and the DA-124C forms together for processing.  If you have questions, please contact COMRU at 573-526-8609 or E-Mail:  COMRU@health.mo.gov
