Preventing Clostridium Difficile Infections

CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Volume 61

The incidence, deaths, and excess health-care costs resulting from Clostridium difficile infections (CDIs) in hospitalized patients are all at historic highs.  To ascertain the ability of programs to prevent CDIs by implementing CDC recommendations across a range of hospitals, population-based data from the Emerging Infections Program were analyzed by location and antecedent health-care exposures.  This report summarizes the results of that analysis: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm61e0306a1.htm?s_cid=mm61e0306a1_e
